One Direction attracts nearly 18,000 fans for 'Today' performance as The Wanted takes the stage for 'Good Morning America'

The battle of the British boy bands? Well, sort of.
On Friday morning, both The Wanted and One Direction played sets for crowds of fans in New York City.

'It seems to me this is the biggest crowd we've ever had,' Al Roker said of cthe crowd that gathered for the band.
One Direction drew an enormous group of screaming fans around Rockefeller Center for their "Today" show appearance. Police estimated that around 18,000 devotees had gathered for the performance.
"It seems to me this is the biggest crowd we've ever had," Al Roker said. Fans had been camping out for the pop star show as long as six days ago.

Co-host Savannah Guthrie even coaxed Zayn Malik to open up about his recent engagement to Perrie Edwards.
